A Man With an "Attitude"

Jim Wetherell, aka "Parky"

Jim "Never give up!" Wetherell is one of my most inspiring patients! Jim
was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1995. Has it slowed him down? On
the contrary, Jim decided he was going to stay as active as possible, and
has actually become a major athlete. Previously fond of cycling, he bought
a recumbent 3 wheeled "tricycle" thus avoiding potential balance problems of
a 2-wheeler, and has become a competitive cyclist. He has ridden over
25,000 miles, and participated in many rallies and competitions. Best of
all, he works tirelessly to encourage others with Parkinson's - with his
own example, the organizations he is involved with, and his web site. Jim
faithfully takes his medication, but he also does all that he can on his own
to maintain strength and mobility. In reality I cannot see any progression;
in fact he seems more vigorous every time I see him. Keep going Jim, you
are a delight and an inspiration!
